Negotiations in Charleston work best with great finesse and utmost respect for all parties. 

Here are a couple of quick tips to win at negotiations:

  • know your targets - set goals and limits on what you want and what you are willing to give

  • use silence strategically

  • know as much about the buyer or seller as possible in advance

  • key in on motivations for leverage

  • always, always give the last concession

  • make the other party work for the agreement

  • check your ego at the door

  • stroke their ego

  • let the other party speak first

  • stay unemotional

  • be willing to walk away

  • use an agent - third-party negotiations work the best (remember the car dealership?)
